Former Stanford Splash Teacher Starts Splash at Amherst College

Amherst Splash Students

Over 30 students from across Massachussets learned about microfinance, made sushi, and posed for a silly photo at Amherst Splash.

“Splash is where he gets his fuel for the school year”

When Cameron Derwin discovered MIT Splash, he immediately asked his mother, Kate, to make the 2 hour, 30 minute drive to MIT.

Kate, who saw an affordable opportunity for her son to explore his interests, agreed to take him.

After Cameron’s first time at MIT Splash, Kate described, "his eyes were completely glossed over. He was in another world." Kate remembers that he was trying to recreate the fundamental theorem of algebra that he had learned earlier that weekend.

Since then, Cameron has returned to MIT Splash year after year. "MIT Splash is where he gets his fuel for the school year," Kate said.
